Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 16th World Congress on Pain Clinicians, I am delighted to invite you to participate the meeting in Dusit Thani Hotel, Dubai, UAE on February 3-5, 2023.
This conference aims to provide an international forum for reporting advances in pain medicine and to unite clinicians and health care givers with a common interest in treating pain.
Global consumption of opioid analgesics for the treatment of moderate to severe pain has more than doubled over the past decade, however, the prescription of these drugs calls on concerns if used in chronic pain conditions as it may cause serious side effects and addiction. Therefore, interventional treatment of pain has to be considered as a first option to manage pain.
The 16th WCPC is a three-day scientific program covering nearly all areas of interventional pain treatment with emphasis on recent advances in new technologies, bridging the latest research and innovations to modern clinical practice, featuring plenary lectures, symposia, workshops and poster presentations, as well as commercial exhibitions and various social events.
Dubai, as a vibrating modern city at the crossroads of three continents – Europe, Asia and Africa, will provide the attractive setting for the conference. The conference venue itself is in the heart of the city. It will give you a good opportunity to experience the traditional and modern culture with a relaxing and informative stay. Congress delegates can enjoy a stress free environment with sunshine, pristine beaches and turquoise waters and thrilling activities in the desert!
We are looking forward to seeing you in Dubai.

Message From The President
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to the 16th WSPC Congress in Dubai 2023.
The World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC) was formed over four decades ago for purely
educational, scientific and charitable purposes. The society aims to unite clinicians with a common interest in treating pain; to publicize the WSPC’s objectives amongst relevant governmental and health authorities; and to encourage scientific research on the treatment and clinical aspects of pain. The WSPC Biennial Congresses stimulate education and learning; increase awareness of pain as a disease in its own right. This series of biennial meetings has a true European flavor but has moved around different countries in different parts of the world on a rolling basis. Unfortunately, the recent Covid pandemic has interfered in our scheduled meetings
The Steering committee put together a fantastic program introducing new technologies and today’s therapeutically available opportunities to clinicians, necessary for daily patient practice.
The congress programme includes all major pain topics and combines up-to date review lectures given by the leading experts in the world with free presentations. There were 1300 specialists registered in Granada during the last conference, and around 600 abstracts have been submitted.
A congress like this is an excellent way to help keeping all subdisciplines together in our joint speciality pain medicine, while it at the same time promotes research and research input across subfields.
The 16th WSPC Congress in Dubai 2023 will create an opportunity to establish new professional co-operation and friendship, to plan and discuss new projects, and to work together to improve pain management internationally as well as locally. It is a special pleasure to see how the WSPC congress now attracts so many active participants also from all over the world.
My appeal to all of you is that you approach colleagues from various cities and countries during your days in Dubai; that you discuss and exchange information about all aspects of pain management. Stroll along in the poster area, at the exhibition or during the breaks, and you will have an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and views with colleagues and potential professional friends.
Furthermore, if we add our warmest welcome and a very friendly atmosphere, be sure that we all will make this Congress an unforgettable event.
